DACH+HOLZ International is a trade fair in Germany for the roofing and timber construction sectors. Its name combines the German words for "roof" (Dach) and "wood" (Holz). It is aimed at roofers, carpenters and timber builders, and plumbers and sheet-metal workers (Klempner), and it covers products for pitched and flat roofs, walls, timber structures, tools and machinery. Its website is dach-holz.com.
Organiser and schedule
The fair is organised by GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH, a Munich-based company that runs trade fairs for skilled crafts. Editions alternate between host cities. The 2026 edition was held over four days in Cologne, and the next edition is scheduled for 7-10 March 2028 at Messe Stuttgart. Recent listings point to a two-year cycle.
Content
Typical exhibitors include manufacturers of:
- clay and concrete roof tiles, natural slate and fibre cement;
- metal roofing and façade systems, including zinc, copper, aluminium and coated steel;
- flat roof waterproofing such as bitumen, synthetic membranes and liquid systems;
- insulation, underlays, roof windows and skylights;
- timber products, engineered wood and timber connectors;
- tools, scaffolding, fall protection, cranes and vehicles;
- rooftop solar systems and green roof components.
The fair also hosts talks, live demonstrations and competitions for apprentices and young tradespeople. German trade associations for roofing, carpentry and sheet-metal work take part as partners.
Context
Germany has a large and highly organised roofing trade, represented nationally by the Zentralverband des Deutschen Dachdeckerhandwerks (ZVDH). DACH+HOLZ is one of the main meeting points for this trade and for timber construction in German-speaking Europe. Other relevant European events include BAU in Munich, which covers the wider building materials market, and Batimat in Paris. In North America, the International Roofing Expo serves a similar role for roofing contractors.
