Tremco Roofing is a North American supplier of commercial roofing systems and roof maintenance services. It operates as part of Tremco CPG Inc., a business of RPM International, the Medina, Ohio-based specialty coatings group. Tremco Roofing's offices are in Beachwood, Ohio.
Parent company
RPM International was founded in May 1947 by Frank C. Sullivan as Republic Powdered Metals. Its first product was a heavy-duty aluminium roof coating called Alumanation, giving the group roots in roofing from the start. RPM became a holding company in 1971 and today owns many coatings, sealants and building-products brands.
Products
Tremco Roofing's range covers most low-slope roofing technologies:
- Hot and cold built-up roofing (BUR).
- Modified-bitumen membranes.
- Single-ply membranes.
- Liquid-applied roof coatings and restoration systems.
- Metal roofs and walls and metal edge systems.
- Mastics, primers, sealants, insulation, fasteners and underlayments.
- Rooftop safety equipment.
Services
Unusually among manufacturers, Tremco provides direct services to building owners, including roof assessment, a maintenance programme branded RoofTec, general contracting and building asset management. It also runs its own fire test laboratory. Sister brands within the wider business include Dryvit wall systems and Nudura insulated concrete forms.
Government contracts
In 2013 RPM and Tremco paid more than USD 60 million to settle a US False Claims Act lawsuit relating to roofing contracts with government customers.
Built-up roofing
Built-up roofing, one of Tremco's oldest product areas, uses several layers of reinforcing felts bonded with hot or cold-applied bitumen, finished with gravel or a coating.
