Stramit Corporation is an Australian manufacturer and supplier of roll-formed steel building products, including roofing and wall cladding, rainwater goods, purlins and girts, and formwork and flooring. It is a member of the Fletcher Building Group of New Zealand, which acquired it in 2005.

History

Stramit's roots lie in several family-owned roofing, rainwater and roll-forming businesses, some dating to the 1890s. Stramit Industries was created in 1930 and made roofing, tiles and modular buildings.

  • 1985: KH Consolidated acquires Stramit Industries, then JL Rolling Mills, and renames itself KH Stramit.
  • 1988: Monier sells its concrete tile division and renames itself Amatek.
  • 1989: Amatek and KH Stramit merge to form the present Stramit Corporation.
  • 1995: Launch of Speed Deck Ultra, a concealed-fix roof deck, which received an Australian Design Award.
  • 2001: Acquisition of Creeks Metal Industries in Victoria.
  • 2005: Acquired by Fletcher Building.
  • 2007-2008: Shed businesses Eziform, Fair Dinkum Sheds and Shed Boss join the group.
  • 2010: Introduction of the FarLap roof lap joint system.
  • 2019: The company marks its 30th anniversary.

Products

  • Roofing and walling: profiled steel sheets including Monoclad and the Speed Deck concealed-fix range (Speed Deck Ultra and Speed Deck 500).
  • Rainwater products: gutters and downpipes.
  • Structural: Exacta C and Z purlins and girts.
  • Other: formwork and flooring, ceiling systems, perforated sheets, sheds, and garage doors through Taurean Door Systems.

Context

Roll-formers such as Stramit buy pre-painted or metallic-coated steel coil and form it into roofing and walling profiles close to the markets they serve. Stramit describes its products as Australian made and lists NATA accreditation.
