Nordic Waterproofing

Nordic Waterproofing Holding AB is a producer and supplier of waterproofing products for buildings and infrastructure in the Nordic countries and nearby markets. It is headquartered in Helsingborg, Sweden. The Irish building-envelope group Kingspan took a controlling stake in 2024 and later increased it to about 63 percent; the company's application to delist its shares was approved in March 2025.

Products and services

Nordic Waterproofing's range covers bituminous roofing membranes, EPDM products, prefabricated roof elements, green infrastructure such as sedum roofs, and solar energy solutions mounted on or integrated with roofs. Unlike many manufacturers, it also provides installation services, so part of its business is roofing contracting.

Context

Bituminous membranes are the dominant covering for flat roofs in Scandinavia, where roofs must cope with snow loads, freeze-thaw cycles and long wet periods. Kingspan's acquisition of Nordic Waterproofing was part of its wider move into roofing and waterproofing, following purchases of Ondura and Derbigum in 2022.

Green roofs

Vegetated roofs, such as sedum roofs, add a drainage layer, growing medium and plants over the waterproofing. They retain rainwater, slow run-off and protect the membrane from ultraviolet light and temperature swings, but add weight that the structure must be designed to carry.
